Trip Summary
Though Sport Fishing in Uganda is one of the least popular activities done by tourists, it remains one of the top activities you should explore if you are a true adventure lover. Uganda has mostly fresh water bodies harboring various species of fish such as the Nile Perch, Tilapia, Cat Fish, Tiger Fish, Lung fish, mud fish, and silver fish among others. Interestingly, most of these kind of fish are harvested using varying methods and aids such as nets, hooks, spears to mention but a few depending on their size and other factors.
In Murchison specifically, the banks of the Nile below the Murchison Falls provide exciting challenges to anglers. Living within strong currents and highly oxygenated water is the Nile Perch. There is a chance to land a massive catch of over 100kg. The record currently stands at 108kg.
Therefore, this 7 – 8 days Uganda Sport Fishing Adventure takes you to below the world’s greatest waterfall, Murchison Falls on river Nile and various locations of the world’s second largest fresh water lake, Victoria mainly for fishing.

Day 1: Arrival
After arriving at the Entebbe International Airport, you will be transferred to Kampala or stay in Entebbe for a short break by the guide who you will find at the Airport waiting for you.
There is a number of class accommodation facilities around Kampala and Entebbe that offer good services ranging from Budget, Midrange to Luxury. It depends on your choice of accommodation but we as Uganda Adventure Safaris take the Kampala Serena Hotel as the first choice.
Day 2: Transfer from Kampala – Murchison Falls
In the morning after getting over the flight fatigue, you will take a breakfast before starting on your 305km drive from Kampala through spectacular rolling green hills to Murchison falls National Park.
In the late afternoon, descend to the base of the world’s greatest falls and fish the evening for up to three hours. However, a relative level of fitness will be required as the decent is relatively steep.
The most caught fish in this location is the large Nile Perch that can go up to 100kgs in weight. After, return to Paraa Safari Lodge to rest as you wait for the next day.
Day 3: Fishing on the Nile
This morning, you will fish the river Nile by boat below the Murchison falls for the Nile perch and other.
You will spend the whole day fishing from the boat and the shore. In addition to fishing, you will also be able to view game such as elephants that come to quench thirsty with the waters of the world’s longest river, buffaloes, hippos among others.
Take as overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge.
Day 4: Fishing with Live Bait
Still in the Murchison Falls, fish the big pools with lures, live bait and flies for the large perch using hooks. Then after, take a picnic and enjoy plenty of cold drinks while spend the day on these magnificent pools.
Overnight: Paraa Safari Lodge.
Day 5: Transfer from Murchison to Entebbe
After breakfast at Paraa Safari Lodge, drive to the top of the falls and later proceed to Entebbe. Take an overnight at Imperial Resort Beach Hotel.
Day 6: Fishing on Lake Victoria
After breakfast, take a boat and go for fishing on Lake Victoria. You will also visit Ngamba Island to see chimpanzees in the Ngamba Chimpanzee sanctuary.
Day 7: Exploring Lake Victoria
Spend the whole day visiting the neighboring Island in Lake Victoria as you return to Entebbe in the evening. You will take an overnight at Imperial Resort Beach Hotel.
Day 8: End of Safari & Transfer to Entebbe Airport
After breakfast at Imperial Resort Beach Hotel, transfer to the Entebbe airport to catch your flight back home depending on the international flight departure times.
