4 Days Ssese Islands Safari

The undiscovered Ssese Island by tourists is one of the hidden tourism treasures of Uganda with a number of attractions needed to be seen by any adventure lover for a memorable trip.

From the fine white sand beaches, beautiful birdlife, Shy Sitatunga Antelopes, colorful baboons to habituated chimpanzees, there is a lot to do and discover in these tropical rain and equatorial forested Islands. Top activities done here include fishing, swimming, nature walks on private islands, birding, horseback riding, bike and Quad Biking, boating, wind surfing, sun set cruises and a visit to the Ngamba Chimpanzee island.

While at the Island, it is easy to spot the whale-headed Stork and the many herons and geese, but more exclusive birds include the Grey Parrot, kingfishers and Fish Eagles.

The wildlife on the Islands includes hippo and crocodile, found near the shores. Waterbuck roam freely, as does the shy Sitatunga antelope.

In the forested areas, chimps and monkeys swing from the trees. Vervet and colobus monkeys are also seen as is a prolific variety of water and forest birds including hornbill, turaco, flycatcher, weaver, fish eagle, paradise flycatcher, colorful butterflies.

Day 1: Transfer to Ssese Islands

In the Morning, transfer for either a boat or Ferry to Ssese Island and on arrival, transfer to Islands Camp for check in. There are two Ferries you can use to access Ssese Islands; one at Nakiwogo dock in Entebbe that takes 3.5 hours to get to the Island and the other at Bukakata Site in Masaka that takes about 50 minutes to get to the Island.

• Dinner and overnight at Islands Club.

Days 2: exploring the Islands on forest walks

After breakfast, spend the day exploring the Ssese Islands with forest walks which offer excellent bird watching. You also watch other animals including he baboon, monkeys, and chimpanzee among others.

Day 3: Ssese Island community and fishing village tour

After breakfast, you will take a boat ride to visit different communities plus the fishing villages. You will also get to know more about the types of fish caught from the respective areas visited on the Lake as well as the methods used to fish.

Return to the lodge/Hotel in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Refreshment Activities

In the morning, engage in a number of activities to refresh your body and mind including swimming, sport fishing, horseback riding, bike and Quad Biking, boating (canoeing), wind surfing among others.

Later in the Evening, start on your journey to take back to Kampala or Entebbe.
