Uganda is blessed with a number of water bodies of which many are unique regarding the way they were gifted by nature; Uganda harbors the source of the Longest river in the world, River Nile, largest fresh water lake in Africa, Victoria, deepest lava dammed lake in Africa, Bunyonyi that was also featured in the popular ‘Black Panther’ movie by Marvel, several explosion craters, calderas, fault guided rivers, the popular kazinga channel among others.

A number of adventure activities can be done on these water bodies to assure you an experience worthy memorable during your trip in the pearl of Africa. These include;

White water Rafting

Take on the challenge to raft on the waters at the source of the mighty Nile River, the World’s Longest River. The Nile’s youthful stage of river rejuvenation that is all found in Uganda is taken as one of the most striking place in Africa to go for white-water rafting.

Never done it before? No worries, you do not need to have much skills to raft on the Nile. You only have to be in love with Adventure. You know how to swim? It’s good to go. Rafting is either done half day or full day that goes up to 25km. After the building of the power station on the popular Bujagali falls for rafting, the activity now starts on the flat water just a couple of kilometers downstream of the Bujagali Dam. For a half day rafting, the activity stops just before the dangerous first Itanda falls after passing through four falls of which two are challenging. Full day rafting continues past the Itanda falls to Kalagala falls in Kangulumira. A 25km rafting assures the rafter eight falls, with four challenging ones.

You can either book directly with the Rafting companies in Uganda (Adrift and Nalubaale) or with us (travel agents). These conduct your experience on the Nile and they provide with you professional rafters who can take you through the activity or join you during the activity.

If you want to take an overnight in Jinja after rafting, the town houses a variety accommodation facilities, from lodges, inns, resorts to hotels with some offering from budget to luxurious services.

What to Bring For Rafting;

As for any other adventure, there are items that you should bring yourself with for a better and comfortable experience. Here is what you shouldn’t forget on your Rafting experience,

Shorts and t-shirts to wear on the water but if you sunburn easily consider long sleeves. Sun burning is one of the most injuries sustained by visitors during rafting activities. So, you can also carry sun cream since you will be out in the sun for 4 – 5.

A change of clothes including a hoody or jacket for the drive home after the activity plus any personal medication.

You can also keep yourself with some money to pay for extras such as customized t-shirts, water bottles among others.

Rafting Restrictions

White water rafting is generally restricted away from individuals below age 14 years though each rafting grade can have its own age restrictions.

For one to go for rafting, he/she must be at least physically health, Sober and without medical conditions such as asthma, epilepsy, allergies among others.
