4 Days Kidepo Valley National Park Safari

Trip Summary

This trip take you to the truly a wilderness park; dry, hot and isolated yet spectacular and virgin, waiting to be discovered, Kidepo Valley National Park in North Western Uganda by air.

Transverse by large sand rivers, the park is renowned for its distinctive composition of wild game co-existing with the dry mountain forests, open savannah that is home to over 77 mammal species and almost 500 birds. As a result, the variety of animal species in the park is equally abundant including many which are to be found nowhere else in Uganda such as Cheetah.

In the Park, is also the home to the Karimojong tribe famously known by its unique cultural behavior and resistance to civilization & modernity!!

ITINERARY:

Day 1: Fly/ Transfer to Kidepo National Park

Depart by morning flight to Kidepo Valley National Park, one of Uganda’s most spectacular parks where you will arrive at close to midday.

After lunch, proceed for a game drive in the park returning in the evening to Apoka Safari Lodge for dinner and an overnight.

On the other hand, if you preferred ground transfer to the park, the first day will be transferring you to Kidepo on a 12-hour drive. On reaching the park, you will take dinner and enjoy an overnight at either Apoka Safari Lodge (luxury) or Apoka Rest Camp (budget).

Note: Though the camp stocks some dry food, visitors who intend to take an overnight at Apoka Rest Camp are advised to take drinks and other food stuff which camp staff can help to prepare.

Day 2: Game Drive

Have a full day game drive in Kidepo National Park to see a number of animals such as Zebras, Giraffes, the unique cheetah, caracal, lesser kudu, mountain reedbuck, gunther’s dik-dik, hyena, Jackson’s hartebeest, Uganda Kob among others.

If you are interested in bird watching, you will easily spot the gigantic ostriches, dark chanting goshawk, kori bustard, little bee-eater, red and yellow barbet among others, 60 species of which haven’t been recorded in any other Ugandan park.

Dinner and overnight at either Apoka Safari Lodge or Apoka Rest Camp.

Day 3: Cultural Excursion

Go an excursion to a nearby Karamajong village (made by prior arrangement) to interact with the Karamojong tribe that is well known for their unique and interesting cultural heritage.

Dinner and overnight at either Apoka Safari Lodge or Apoka Rest Camp.

Day 4: Return to Kampala/ Entebbe

For those that intend to an air charter, you will have a morning game drive first and lunch before take a return flight back to Entebbe.

For the other, you will embark on a drive to bring you back to Kampala.
